Support Small Business Saturday!

While many people will shop the big box stores for deals Friday, smaller retailers want you to pay particular attention to them the day after. There’s a national campaign from the small business division of American Express, Open Forum, called “Small Business Saturday” taking place November 27th.

Local Small Business QuickBooks Bookkeeping BlogThe basis of the campaign is that dollars spent in small businesses keep the economy strong – for every $100 spent in locally owned stores, $68 dollars returns to the community.

A few more interesting facts about entrepreneurship in 2010:

About 40% of small business owners work 60+ hours a week.

Small businesses grapple every day with everything from federal taxes to health insurance to the cost of fuel.

America trusts small businesses, according to a recent poll from Pew research.

Small business owners are getting perks from Affinia Hotels, Overstock.com’s Main Street Store, and Bank of America.
